Apple Picking Trip!

Good Evening,

In addition to the fire station field trip on Wednesday, October 16th, we will also be going to Chapin Orchard.  We will be going on this trip Friday, October 11th.  Your child received an information sheet today.  We will be leaving the school by bus at 8:35 and the activities start at 9:00.  If you would like to chaperone this trip please meet us at Chapin Orchard in Essex Town by 9:00.  You must be an approved volunteer. You only need to return the permission slip if you are interested in chaperoning.  Please contact me if you have any questions. The bus will return back at Summit by 11:00. Thanks!

Spider Fun!

We learned so much about spiders on Friday as part of The Four Winds science program.  We watched a puppet show, studied live spiders with magnifying glasses, played a fact or fiction game, and created our own spiders.  The students even dressed me up as a spider, including all the important parts! Below are pictures of this wonderful experience.  

Volunteers Needed!

Our classroom is still in need of Four Winds volunteers.  This Friday, September 27th, from 8:00 to 9:00 volunteers from previous years will do our first classroom Four Winds presentation.  Please consider coming to watch this in action to see what is involved and if you could commit to one training session a month and one classroom presentation.  I am hopeful that we will have one or more parents who would like to join in the fun.  Thank you for your consideration!  

We're Playing Chess!

Mr. Mills came in last week to do his first chess session.  We also had third grade helpers to circulate the tables during playing time.  Chess is a great way to enhance student thinking skills, increase patience, and practice thoughtfulness.

Recycle Rhonda

We had a visit from Rhonda Mace from the Chittenden Solid Waste District.  She taught us what we can compost, what can be recycled, and what should go into the trash.  This will be especially helpful at snack and lunch time!

Sun Band Celebration!

Hello Families,

The students have filled the sun band bag in our classroom!  We will have a stuffed animal celebration tomorrow, Friday, September 13th.  Please help your child select one stuffed toy that fits in his/her backpack.  They will be our learning buddies for the day. I can't wait to meet all of the stuffed animal friends tomorrow!  

***Important Note*****  Please encourage your child to bring a stuffed toy that is not super sentimental or essential for bed time as accidents do occur and things can get lost or broken.
