Updates and Events

Hi Families,

Ms. Gentley finished her second week of solo teaching.  The students learned so much about plants and seeds and what they need to survive.  I tried to capture some of her lessons by taking pictures of the events.  Last Friday, Meghan Martin, from Farm to School, came to plant flowers with us.  She also did some movement activities to show us how seeds travel and get planted in other places.  She returned one last time this past Friday to make salsa with our class.  We invited Mrs. Bergstrom's class to join us.  The students also did an integrated arts project showcasing the parts of the plant.  We hope you enjoy the pictures we have posted below the Events section!

Events:

April

•  Monday, April 22nd-Friday, April 26th-No School for students.

May

• Tuesday, May 7th-The kindergartners are going to the Flynn in the morning.
• Thursday, May 9th.  We will be having kindergarten registration for the new kindergarten students.  This is a full day for your students.  Ms. Gentley will sub while I meet the incoming kindergartners.
• Thursday, May 23rd at 8:00 am.  All the kindergarten classes will be presenting at the assembly in the gym.  We hope you can come!
•  Monday, May 27th—Memorial Day – No School

June

• Thursday, June 6th.  End of the year Musical at 1:00 pm at Fleming.  I highly encourage you to come early (12:30) to ensure parking and seats are available. We hope to see you there!  More information to follow shortly.
• ****New****  Friday, June 7th, Mrs. Hamilton and Ms. Mahoney's classes will be having an "end of the year" picnic at Maple Street Park.  We will be sharing the space with all of the second grade classes.  The general time frame will be 10 to 2 including the walk over and back.  We will have all of the details to you as soon as they are available.  

Summit T-Shirt Reminder

For the next two Fridays all students and staff are asked to wear their Summit Street School T-Shirts!  Please help your child locate his/her shirt and wear it tomorrow.  I will send out a reminder again next week.  Thanks!  Ms. Mahoney

games for the upcoming season! Click on the link and pass along

to ANYONE you know!  Buy tickets DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL

using the link and a portion of the ticket price comes back to Summit Street

School (so buy all your tickets for the season here!!!) You can exchange

dates once you purchase tickets so you aren't locked in to the date you

purchase.

Summit Street School will officially be recognized at the game on 

Friday July 26 

but you can switch tickets for any of the games!

Book Swap Update

The Book Swap bin is ready to receive your books!  It is housed in the main office.  The Book Swap in Friday, April 19th.  A flyer went home in last week's folder.  Thank you.
