Updates and Events

Hello Families,
Last Tuesday was our 100th Day of School!  Everyone participated in an assembly to recognize this important milestone.  Back in our classroom, we incorporated the number 100 into all of our learning.  We read 100th Day books, we wrote 100th Day stories, we did math concentrating on the number 100, and we also shared all of our 100th Day projects.  Please see the pictures below.

On Thursday, we were treated to another Spotlight Student special guest.  He came into the classroom to read a wonderful story.  He also participated in our morning book swap!

Finally, please be on the lookout for the next reading challenge and multiple Home Reading Books in your child’s reading folder.  These are for the vacation.  We will select the books during our library time on Thursday.  They will either go home that day or the following day.  Students will also receive their third reading challenge of the year!  The students will be on break from 2/22 - 3/3.

Updates and Events

Hello Families,
We have been busy in kindergarten.  We are right in the middle of our “How to…” writing unit. Students have picked topics they know a lot about such as brushing their teeth, making bracelets, and cleaning up.  We are learning how to write each step of the process to teach the reader how to do something.  In reading, we are using even bigger reading muscles than before.  We are reading more challenging books with more words, more lines of print, new words, longer words, and surprise endings!  On Wednesday, we had a Spotlight Reader from third grade as a very special sibling guest!  On Friday, we learned all about skulls during our Four Winds science session.

I have heard from a few students that they have been working on their 100 day project.  I can't wait to see all of them on Monday, February 10th.

Lastly I hope you can make it to Game Night on Friday, February 7th, at 6:00.  Your child will recognize some of the games from their math work places.  I am sure they would love to come and teach you how to play!
