Updates and Events

Hello Families,

The students certainly enjoyed everything 100 this week!  We counted, we exercised, we attended a first grade assembly, and shared our projects.  We even had a class parade at the end of the day Friday.  We also really enjoyed our opportunity to do coding over the last two weeks.  The highlight was programming Bee Bots to dance!  Please enjoy the pictures below, as well as all the events happening over the next few months.

Congratulations Summit Street School!

We will have a Friendship Day Celebration on February 14th. Students have the option to send in Valentines (purchased or homemade). Info and a class list were sent in Friday Folders.

February

• 02/12 - Bowling at Spare Time - 8:30-11:00 am
• 02/14 - Please send your child to school with Friendship/Valentine's Day Cards if they are bringing them in.
• 02/20 - Author's Presentation - 8:00 in the classroom-Families are invited to come and see what your student author has created during Writer's Workshop!
• 02/25 - 03/01 - Winter Break-No school for students

March

• 03/13 – We will be walking to The Heavenly Pantry with Ms. Novotny's class-our Book/Learning Buddies. We will learn all about the importance of a food shelf and how it helps our community. More information to follow.

Pictures of Coding and the 100th Day of School

Reminder

The 100^th day of school is on Friday, February 8^th.  Ms. Mahoney’s, Mrs. Hamilton’s and Mrs. Dall/Cole’s classes will gather to celebrate this exciting day. 

We are asking students to make a 100^th Day project that will be displayed for classmates.  Some examples are 100 cotton balls glued to a piece of paper, 100 Cheerios glued to a piece of paper in the shape of the number 100, 100 paperclips linked together, 100 beads made into a necklace.  Please let your child be creative and have fun with this project. 

All three classes will share their projects on February 8^th, so please have your child bring their project to school by this date. You are welcome to send projects in starting Monday, February 4^th.
